So happy together! My son Ty's wedding

but then was the outdoor reception at the beautiful Thomas E. Ricks gardens the following weekend & lets just say it went from hot & sunny to wind & rain with a full fledged "Tornado Warning" alert on our cell phones! No kidding! I mean, Really, we live in Idaho, tornado's don't happen here, but that's the honest truth! Luckily it stayed nice enough to get pictures of how it was SUPPOSED to look & luckily we had the gazebos we could move under, & luckily the tornado never took shape, but lets just say it was UNLIKE anything I had planned for, but Ty & Lauren thought it was "magical" anyway, so I guess that's all that matters! :) Thanks to the awesome team, BilliBilli Photography for the beautiful pics!

Vintage love!

As the mother of Groom, one would not normally be involved in planning the reception, but since thats what I do, I was happy to be VERY involved which was so fun! Don't worry, I was careful to work around the bride's wishes & together we came up with a fun, but romantic twist on a vintage theme!

Pearl~ filled Parfait cups & vintage vases with pearl strands & hand made coffee filter flowers atop white lace & Tiffany table toppers make for fun, unique centerpieces!

Although her colors were Tiffany blue, Buttercream yellow & white, we decided to add a touch of pink to the bouquet to make it really pop!

Closeup of the backdrop~ I used a gorgeous, swirly sheer material behind the windows with Buttercream material to drape, along with fresh Vendela Roses & Lambs Ear to dress up the shutters.

A cool shot through the backdrop of the scene before the storm~ little did we know!

Tall vintagey pedestals hold bouquets of Vendela Roses, tufts of Lambs ear, yellow Stock, & Silver dollar Eucalyptus. Romance was in the air! but so was a tornado warning :/ but they held their ground & stayed beautiful the whole night.

Ok, so this is funny, So after we got the pictures back, I'm laying in bed looking at them on my tablet, & I'm like, "oh, honey, isn't this the most beautiful font? I just love it! (I spent 5+ hours copying this font onto this old door, really! call me a perfectionist, ya, it's not always a good trait) & he's like "what's the name of it?" & I'm like... "Before the Rain" & before it could even leave my lips, it dawned on me & I FREAKED out!!!! he just busted up laughing & I'm like,"it's not funny! I totally jinxed the whole thing!" But just watching him I couldn't help but start giggling too! Argh! So, just a warning, don't use this font if you're planning an outdoor celebration! Mother Nature has a heck of a sense of humor!

Still smiling despite the rain! Sometime unexpected changes make for the most memorable memories!

The photo/kissing booth! Unfortunately this didn't go as planned either, because we had to move it under the gazebo where for one thing the lighting wasn't good, & for another there wasn't much room, so people didn't use it like we had hoped, but at least we got the bride & groom in there!

I love these too love birds!

Romantic White on White

This is a bouquet I made for a surprise keepsake for a couple my son is working with as he serves a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They are getting married on Friday and baptized on Saturday. We are so excited for them!

The white on white tones accentuate the vintage, romantic look of these handmade flowers. So scrumptious! I wish I was a professional photographer too, but alas, that's still not my forte so you'll have to bear with these pics!

This is the bout I made to go with it. Very chic!

Purple Passion

I have a friend who's daughter wants purple and silver for her upcoming wedding. So I thought I would throw together a few purple inspiration boards to give her a head start on ideas.

Purple is so elegant and luscious! I love it paired with chartreuse above! Such a great combo!

I'm in love with the cake above. The clean, crisp lines highlight the gorgeous flower topper! So great! (found at toramonneckties.com)

This is a brilliant idea for centerpieces~flowers in a beautiful box! (found @ ideasinblume.com)

For a fun favor idea, fill mini boxes with violets or pansies to thank your guests!

...and then there's lavender. Who doesn't love lavender? and you can't go wrong with kissing balls either (bottom left pic if you're not familiar with kissing balls-they're always a hit) ~found @ bellini.com.

Oooooh... I love the vintage-style hairpins! So gorgeous! and the candle centerpiece too! and the bridesmaids' handtied posy's! (as seen at Beautifully Ever After)

For a light airy feel, loop a greenery garland into a wispy wreath an adorn it with an off-set bow! Delightful!

DIY Vintage Blooms~ Part II~ the tutorial!

So, for all you who love to craft here is a really fun project that is great for making flowers for headbands, decor, or even, in this case, flowers for a vintage wedding!

I also wanted to add some different dimension to the bouquet, so I made rannunculas as seen in the bouquet (top pic) by cutting out circles of varying sizes, burning the edges and sewing them together then finishing with vintage buttons & pearls in the centers! So great for a vintage theme!

This is the grooms bout. The couple is also doing a "time" theme with old vintage clocks, etc. and I just happened to have a clock face from an old watch I took apart for another project, so I added it into the bout.

The timepiece in the bouquet. Borrowing some inspiration from a previous post, I clustered and draped pearls, misc. vintage items, and beads from the base of the flowers too, then finished it off by twisting grosgrain ribbon around the stems. (I'm so glad I finally got my hands on some of the professional pics two above- again, photography is not my forte!)

So after finishing all the flowers for the wedding I decided to make this video on how to make these luscious blossoms!~ It's really not hard, just time consuming! My first attempt took about an hour & 1/2, but I got it down to about 40 mins! So if you're patient and love to craft, you'll have fun with these! Go ahead, give it a try!~

DIY Vintage blooms!

I'm sooooo excited! So here's my first attempt and I have to say, I haven't been more excited about anything for a while! Okay, so maybe I need a life :) but seriously, these were so fun to make and, if I can say so myself, turned out pretty darn COOL! I think another reason I got so excited was, I just hadn't felt too happy about using silk flowers for the bouquet for a wedding coming up as the bride wants a truly vintage feel and I just hadn't come across anything that I felt would fit the bill. But then, I came across these beauties and my prayers were answered! So as promised in the previous post here are my results!~

Burning the edges was the funnest part!~ So then I just had to go fabric shopping! Hmmm.... Stay tuned to see what I came up with!

More Vintaqe Romance

We'll start off with this fun, truly vintage photo. Isn't it great! Now that bouquet's an armful!

I came across this while on the hunt for vintage bouquets, and thought it was totally gorgeous, so I had to add it in!

These make my all time fav's list too! And don't you just love her dress! I wish I could see the whole thing! Super Vintage!

Now these are a fun twist!~ & would make a great keepsake after the fresh bouquet is long gone!

Doesn't this just look so soft and sweet? I just want to snuggle up to it!

Okay, so this may not be the typical vintage bouquet, but the flora choices and the asymmetry of it all, makes it oh, so, romantic! I'm in LOVE!

...and here we have what is keeping me up at this late hour (it was 1:30 am when I originally wrote this)~ I came across this site (hapitat.tumblr.com) from a link on weddingbee.com which showed how to make these delectable~to~the~eyeball vintage blossoms! (above and &below) I of course had to try it out and tomorrow I will post my results, which I am so excited about, I can't sleep! But alas I haven't taken pictures yet, so that will have to wait! But, WOW, if you are a DIYer, you gotta try these! But don't start at 10:30 PM or you might be so excited about them you won't be able to get to sleep either! Such an absolutely Vintage knockout!!
