When I was young I was enthralled with the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. Yes, I was one who wanted to stay up all night just so I could get a glimpse of the fairytale-like event! Now however, I was really only interested in her bouquet, go figure, right?

I really love her choice of bouquet, not huge and extravagant, but simple and refined. It included a tribute to her husband by including Sweet William flowers, which I thought was sweet and also included Hyacinth, Lily-of-the-valley, Ivy, and, as Royal tradition dictates, a sprig of Myrtle from the original bush planted by Queen Victoria on the Isle of Wight in 1845. Very nice!

I love the change in style from the overly huge gown and bouquet of Princess Di's day, to Kate's more simple & refined style of elegance.

In searching for pictures of flowers from the Royal event, I came across their cake, so thought I would include it here. Although a little over-the-top for my taste, it is still exquisite and fit for the Royal celebration! It was covered with over 900 flowers!
I dvr'd the wedding and like you I thought everything was very understated and lovely! Thanks for the explanation of the bouguet, makes it extra special.
